Getting the Kids in the "Disney Mood"

(Short Excerpts From the Book)

Disney Music

  • There are many great collections of Disney music that can be found at the Disney Store or at local discount stores.
  • This is a great way to stay in the Disney mood during the trip down and back. On the trip down the music helps build anticipation. On the trip home it can spark the recent memories of the park and the Disney atmosphere.
  • If you drive while at the parks, keep the spirit alive with the constant sound of Disney in the car.
  • Look for Disney World CDs that have music from the rides, shows, pavilions, and fireworks. You can buy them at the parks or plan ahead and look on eBay before you leave.

Disney Coloring Books

  • Pick up some inexpensive Disney coloring books at most any discount store.
  • Print coloring pages off of the Internet.
  • look at http://disney.go.com/magicartist on Disney's website where you can find coloring pages, calendars, and other projects the kids can make or print off.  Click on the pictures below to go directly to the coloring pages.
  • Another great resource that is on the web is www.coloring-page.com/disney.html.  Look here for Disney coloring pages and for other things to color.
  • There are some inexpensive computer programs that Disney puts out for around $10 that have everything you would need to produce your own coloring pages.

Disney Movies

  • Bring a DVD or video cassette player with you in the car. Mobile playing units are now very inexpensive (under $200) and of course can be used more than just on your Disney trip.
  • Use a laptop computer that has a built-in DVD player. Bring extra batteries or invest in a $20 converter that can be plugged into the cigarette lighter.
  • Try to pick movies that have a corresponding ride or show at Disney World. Great movies to think about are: Peter Pan, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, the Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lilo and Stitch, the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, or Haunted Mansion to name a few. This is a great way to pump the kids (and adults) up about what they are about to see and it is also a great way for them to remember the characters when they are in the parks.
